A unique chivalric epic. A journey through Alsace and the surrounding area, its fortified castles, vineyards, forests and picturesque villages.
A legendary adventure
This format invites you to embark on a unique adventure in the heart of Alsace, on trails that link the Bas- and Haut-Rhin departments. The exceptional route takes runners on a journey that includes iconic castles and blends medieval history with breathtaking landscapes.
A fabled start: Turckheim
The race begins in Turckheim, a quintessential Alsatian village ranked among the most beautiful in France. Nestled at the foot of the world-renowned Brand vineyard, this medieval treasure boasts rich heritage, including three historic gates — the Porte de France, the Porte de Munster, and the Porte du Brand — and the remnants of its defensive wall. Runners will set off beneath the majestic Porte de Munster, cross the village, and then exit through the Porte du Brand, heading straight out on the trails.
An exceptional course through Alsace
Towards Kaysersberg: After the start runners head towards the Galtz, known as the ‘Alsatian Corcovado’, a monumental 23m statue that watches over the plains of Alsace. Next you pass through Wineck Castle in Katzenthal before reaching the Schlossberg Castle as you leave Kaysersberg, an essential stop on this historic journey.
Summit at Aubure: From there you climb the slopes leading to Aubure, the highest village in Alsace and the summit of the course, offering wild, unspoiled panoramic views.
The Bas-Rhin and the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle: As you descend into the Bas-Rhin you enter the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, a majestic site overlooking the plains and a testament to Alsatian medieval history.
Vineyards and traditional villages: From Châtenois to Barr, the vineyards and traditional Alsatian villages are a feast of authenticity as you follow part of the 50K route. The climb towards Mont Sainte-Odile, a spiritual and historical landmark, is a memorable stage of your adventure.
Final Challenges – Heidenkopf and Obernai: You have to go uphill to go down, and the final ascent takes runners to the summit of Heidenkopf before a last descent into Obernai and a finish on the medieval ramparts, completing your quest over this iconic distance.
